It has been a challenging year for NEKFGA. We expanded activities and
opened a range on the new property. We are currently working on a plan to
re-open DeZarn #4 on a controlled basis that protects our neighbors. We
successfully implemented a safety orientation for new members. We
negotiated a three year lease with the property owners that will require
contract compliance and timely payments. We improved our calendar and
web site so activities are more readily visible for members.
There have been some changes that affect club activities. ATVs are no
longer permitted on the property per our lease agreement. DeZarn #4 has
been closed for much of the year. New members have been helping spread
the word about safety rules among all of our members. Arrangements for
club usage by CCW classes have changed. We anticipate training more
range officers shortly. Basically, we have been moving forward with several
programs to increase safety and enforce safety rules among all people who
are using club resources. We ask everyone to abide by posted rules and be
safe with all activities on the property. We have a wonderful facility with all
kinds of possibilities. Work is underway by a dedicated few to develop our
new property in ways that will benefit the whole organization. Please take
part in the range development work group that meets the second Monday
each month at 6 pm. We have a lot of talent and ideas among our
membership that we need to tap as we grow and evolve. Get involved. We
need everyone to move us forward. A big thank you to everyone already
working for NEKFGA’s future.
Effective immediately ATVs are not allowed on Northeastern Kentucky Fish and Game. Only exceptions are for range personnel or those with a physical handicap using the ATV for mobility.
Full automatic firearms are now allowed to be used on all DeZarn ranges except DeZarn #4.
And remember that DeZarn # 4 (400 yd range) is closed until further notice. Usage of this range will result in the immediate revocation of NEKFGA Membership.
Annual membership dues of $50.00 are to be paid January 1, 2014. These must
be paid by the Wild Game Dinner/Awards Banquet on March 1, 2014. Access
cards may be inactivated April 1st if dues are not paid by the deadline. Dues may
be paid in advance. NEKFGA prefers checks/money orders rather than cash to
streamline the membership renewal process.
All applicants must then participate in a mandatory safety orientation held the second and fourth Saturday each month at noon in the NEKFGA clubhouse. All applicants should attend a convenient safety orientation as the next step in the application process.
Along with the completed application and check or money order of $75, applicants must show either a valid, current CCW or a national criminal background check at the safety orientation. This is at the applicant's expense.
All requirements must be met before membership is granted.
